Enabling Microphones and Cameras in an Adobe Connect meeting using a browser

Steps to join a Connect session enabling your microphone and webcam

When joining an Adobe Connect meeting room using a browser, you should see one of the following audio/video prompts on the entry screen.

Note: if you do not see either of the following prompts check Troubleshooting below.

  • If the host has not allowed cameras for participants, then only the microphone prompt will appear.

NOTE: the request to Use your microphones will show up, even if the host has not allowed participants to enable their microphones. This is intended to reduce time and confusion when enabling microphones during the meeting.

Choosing Allow will not automatically share your microphone. You must also turn on your microphone from the login screen or when you are in the meeting.

Choosing Block will prevent your microphone from being used. If you wish to share your microphone at a later point during the meeting, see the article Re-enabling your microphone.

  • If the host has allowed participant cameras in the meeting you will see this prompt.

Choosing Allow will not automatically share your either your microphone or camera. You must also turn on your microphone and/or camera from the login screen or when you are in the meeting.

Then, when you click on the microphone or webcam button once in the Connect room, such messages pop up:

You can continue to join the meeting and then follow the ‘re-enabling your microphone’ and ‘re-enabling your camera’ articles.

Advanced Troubleshooting

You can also review your browser's privacy settings from its Settings page. To access them, click the three dots or dashes in the address bar (depending on the browser), then select Settings.

To review your microphone privacy settings, type ‘microphone’ or ‘camera’ in the search field to quickly find the privacy settings you need to review.

To remove a previously blocked microphone or camera from an Adobe Connect account, click on the appropriate result, then:

  • For Edge: simply click the ‘trash can’ icon associated with that account URL. In the  example below, the search was performed on the microphone, and only one Connect account was listed.
Removing previously blocked or allowed cameras and microphones will reset your settings. You will be prompted again to Block or Allow the microphone or camera the next time you join a session with those Connect accounts.

  • For Opera: after clicking on the appropriate result, click on the Connect account where the microphone or camera is blocked, depending on the item you are looking for, and finally select Allow from the drop-down menu (instead of Block) and close the Opera settings tab.

  • For Firefox: scroll down to the Permissions section, then click the Settings button for Microphone or Camera, depending on what you initially searched for, the Permissions window for the selected item appears, listing the Websites for which permission exists. To the right of these Website URLs, there is a drop-down menu for the current permission status, select Allow, then click the Save Changes button and close the browser Settings tab.

  • For Google Chrome: after clicking on the Site Settings search result in the Privacy & Security section, click Microphone or Camera, depending on your search, then in the Custom Behaviors > Not Allowed to Use Your Microphone or Camera section, you should find the Adobe Connect URL for which you are unable to get the microphone or camera to work.
You can either click the 'trash can' icon to remove it from this section and reset your settings. This will prompt you again to Block or Allow the microphone or camera the next time you participate in a Connect session.
Or you can click the 'small triangle' icon to the right of the URL to directly select the Allow permission for the Microphone and/or Camera.

Finally, you can close the browser Settings tab.
